The new Bovet Mille Fleurs collection, French for ‘a thousand flowers,’ is part of the brand’s Amadeo Fleurier 39 family. A tribute to the enduring symbol of love and beauty—the flower—this collection showcases the Bovet watchmakers’ mastery of miniature painting:
Introduced earlier this year, the Amadeo Fleurier 39 Mille Fleurs models feature enameled lacquer, a technique that requires successive firings based on the complexity and number of colors in each floral motif.
Mother of pearl serves as the backdrop for the Mille Fleurs’ miniature paintings, contrasting beautifully with the highly-detailed motifs, which are painted by hand with a fine marten’s hair brush. Between the applications of each color a lacquer is applied, fixing each layer of the painting in place.
Undoubtedly every woman has her own personal favorite when it comes to flowers, and the brilliance of the Mille Fleurs collection is that it accommodates this, by allowing Bovet’s clients to choose any hand-painted flower. Some motifs also feature gold leaf, and are adorned with diamonds.
Each model features a 39mm case with Bovet’s trademark Amadeo convertible system. Originally unveiled in 2010, this system allows the wearer to transform each model from a wristwatch to a pendant, and even a table clock, with the simple press of push pieces.
The Amadeo Fleurier 39 Mille Fleurs timepieces are powered by the calibre 11BA13, a self-winding movement with a 72-hour power reserve. Visible via a sapphire crystal caseback, this movement features a 22K red gold oscillating weight. Functions include hours and minutes.
During our visit to the Bovet boutique in New York City, Haute Time had the chance to see five of these models: a rose, a lotus, a pansy, and two diamond-encrusted jewelry roses. Each piece was made exclusively for that store, as indicated by engraving which reads, ‘Limited Edition exclusively designed for New York boutique,’ visible on the caseback.
The Bovet boutique is located at 50 Central Park South, New York, NY 10019. For more information, call +1 212 257 5015, or visit the boutique’s website. Photo credit: Haute Time.
