Haute Time had the great honor of sitting down with Breitling USA President, Thierry Prissert at Basel World.

It’s a very exciting time for Breitling as they recently opened their first two U.S. boutiques, the flagship in New York City and the other boutique in Aventura Florida. Having a U.S. presence has been a fantastic way for people to learn more about Breitling and see the entire collection. Later in 2012, Breitling is planning on opening a third U.S. boutique in Las Vegas in The Forum shops.

Breitling has been creating its own in-house movement since 2009 and recently introduced a few more critically acclaimed movements. These instruments have such sophisticated precision that Breitling offers a 5-year warranty on all timepieces equipped their in-house movement.

Thierry Prissert showed me the timepiece he was wearing at Basel, the Transocean Chronograph with a black dial, which was launched at last year’s fair. It features the Breitling in-house movement and has been one of the top sellers within the brand.

The Breitling watch generating the most buzz at Basel this year is the Transocean Unitime, which is a world time watch, showing many different timezones. The Transocean Unitime is also equipped with the Breitling in-house movement, with two different patents. It is the only chronograph world time watch where the city disc and a time disc move simultaneously, making it very easy to set. It should be on the market by May. The stainless steel version will be priced $11,300 and the red gold version will be $28,500.

Just launched at Basel, the next Breitling in-house movement that debuted was the GMT, which was put into a 44mm case, known as the Chronomat 44 GMT. Price point of this timepiece is just below $9,000. Another pieces we looked at was part of the Breitling for Bentley collection. It is one of the best selling Breitling timepieces. The features are inspired by the Bentley automobiles, the sub-dials even remind you of a wheel. It will be available in the next two months and the response has been outstanding.
