Polo is one tough old sport, as I discovered last month in Saint-Tropez when I went one-on-one with Argentina’s Pablo Mac Donough. But that doesn’t mean it’s exclusive to big, strong men. In fact, some of the world’s best teams are composed of female players, and Richard Mille has made sure they also join his.
Currently in its 3rd year of partnership with the Polo Club Saint-Tropez, the independent Swiss watch brand has decided to launch a new limited edition based on the RM07 01 White ceramic introduced at SIHH in 2014.
This limited edition of 30 pieces has been designed to echo the colors of the French Riviera, known for its white beaches and azure water. It features the model’s iconic white ceramic case and white crown rubber, but comes this time with a beautiful lapis lazuli dial and matching blue réhaut.
Once again, Richard Mille shows he is a cut above when it comes to ladies timepieces. While his brand was built around oversized, and arguably testosterone fueled watches, Richard Mille has won over the ladies’ market with considerable ease.
After greeting them with a wonderful bouquet of flowers at the beginning of the year, Richard Mille continues to impress with a feminine interpretation of the brand’s famous tonneau-shape case that marries perfectly with this summer’s high-fashion trends. And while it looks stunning on the Polo field, we recommend a slighly lighter sport, such as tanning on the beach, for this one. If Mac Donough’s RM 053 is anything to go by, Polo watches demand a bit more protection than the RM07 01 affords.
True to the brand’s performance-driven DNA, the RM 07-01 houses a highly skeletonized automatic movement, caliber CRMA2, which boasts a power reserve of around 50 hours. The RM07 01 Polo Club Saint-Tropez White Ceramic will be available at Richard Mille Boutiques in Europe and the Middle East and at the new Richard Mille pop up at Polo Club Saint-Tropez, which is currently hosting Polo matches all summer long, before holding The Richard Mille Cup on the August, 16.
