Launched earlier this year at Baselworld, the new Diamond Ribbon Joaillerie Ref. 4968/400R-001 by Patek Philippe is a sparkling addition to the Swiss watchmaker’s Diamond Ribbon collection. The rose gold model was revealed in 2012, while the white gold version followed two years later in 2014. Both versions of the watch featured white mother-of-pearl watch dials.

Now in its 177th year, the superlative Geneva-based watchmaker has created a new ‘Diamond Ribbon Joaillerie’ watch that displays the brand’s legendary ability for diamond setting. The bezel and dial are adorned with a spiral consisting of 587 diamonds weighing a total of 3.02 carats. The lugs are further set with 48 diamonds, totaling 0.17 carats.

At 6 o’clock, a highly precise moon-phase display is beautifully showcased and just below that, the power reserve indicator is visible. Twelve rubies sparkle while acting as the hour markers, while the leaf-shaped hour, minute and small seconds hands are crafted in 18-carat rose gold.

With a case size of 33.3 mm, this dress watch sits elegantly on the wrist, sure to catch any eye that falls on it.

The manually wound mechanical movement, Caliber 215 PS LU powers the Diamond Ribbon Joaillerie watch, which is water resistant to 30 metres. The in-house movement is the same used for the other models of the Diamond Ribbon collection, and has a minimum power reserve of 39 hours, going up to a maximum of 44 hours.

Matching the ruby hour-markers, a shiny, cherry red alligator strap with square scales is chosen for the Diamond Ribbon Joaillerie timepiece, along with a prong buckle set with 32 diamonds. The piece as a whole is a genuine example of exemplary detailing that Patek Philippe is known for.
