Hands On The New Harry Winston Premier Shinde Automatic 36mm Collection

The Baselworld 2015 launch of the Shinde Automatic 36mm timepieces are a beautiful addition the Harry Winston Premier Collection. Introduced in 1989, an iconic signature of the brand, The Premier Collection marked the start of an exceptional journey by Harry Winston into the array of fine watchmaking.

A distinct feature of the timepieces from this collection, are the three arches on the case, reminiscent of Harry Winston’s Fifth Avenue Boutique in New York. On a trip to Bombay, founder Winston met Ambaji V. Shinde in 1955. An instant bond formed and Shinde went on to become the legendary designer of the House of Harry Winston. Inspired by archives of Shinde’s innovative designs and jewellery creations, Premier Shinde Automatic 36mm pays tribute to the mastermind behind Harry Winston’s top jewellery pieces.

These watches reinterpret three of his designs – two necklaces of including the lovely ‘Star of the Desert’ and a tiara. An industry leader, Harry Winston without diamonds, just does not sound right. Aptly, 57 brilliant-cut diamonds totaling approximately 2.32 carats are set on the case. The fully relief-engraved the dial showcases the Hours and minutes functions. The eye-catching motif is achieved through a unique technique where the watch designer and engraving artist work closely. Measuring a mere four-tenths of a millimeter a spirally twisted slender 24-carat gold thread is used to effectively create these timepieces.

The Gold dial with Grand Feu enamel and gold spangles, together with gorgeous lacework décor in 24K gold, most significantly assures the connoisseur of the watch’s workmanship and exclusivity. The rose gold case is perfectly sized at 36 mm for a elegant fit. Evoking romantic emotions, the lace-like cannetille work on the dial sets the stage for wearing the piece in the Premier Shinde watches to a Grand Ball.

Harry Winston’s Caliber HW2008 (seen below in the Premier Precious Butterfly Automatic 36mm) is what powers the mechanical Premier Shinde Automatic 36mm. Consisting of 186 components, the movement dimensions are 26.2 mm in diameter and 3.37 mm in height. In true Harry Winston style of fine finishing, Circular Côtes de Genève, rhodium plating, circular graining are used.

Glossy black alligator leather strap suits the ornate dial, making one feel infinitely more beautiful. The 18-karat white gold ardillon buckle is set with 17 brilliant-cut diamonds weighing about 0.15 carats. Limited to only 50 pieces per design, the price is upon request.
