It’s Throwback Thursday over on Instagram, and we thought we’d take the celebrations online this week by checking in with the Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre Unique Travel Time.

Presented in 2012 in white gold exclusively for the Jaeger-LeCoultre boutique on Place Vendôme, the Duomètre Unique Travel Time returned in rose gold during the 2014 edition of SIHH.

Designed for travelers, this timepiece lets users adjust a second time zone and track both local and home time thanks to its hand-wound Dual-Wing Calibre 383.

Conceived and developed in-house by Jaeger-LeCoultre, this novel system features a single organ, shared by both time zones, increasing the efficiency and accuracy of the watch.

Each time zone is powered separately – hence the two power reserves underneath each time zone – and are displayed using different configurations to increase the legibility of the dial. Resulting in a user-friendly watch, something quite rare and difficult to achieve with this level of complication.

Local time is displayed on the right using rose gold hour and minute hands, and the home time on the left using a digital jump-hour and a blued minute hand. In the current picture, taken at the Jaeger-LeCoultre in Singapore, both the local time and home time have been set at 10:10 to show this variation.

Both home and local time are set by a single crown, allowing the user to set the time in each time zone down to the minute (for those time zones offset by 30 or 45 minutes) while the push-piece at 8 and 10 o’clock adjust the jumping hours in the left subdial.

The Duomètre Unique Travel Time also features a stunning globe at the 6 o’clock position with a subtle day/night indication, for the beauty of the earth can really only be admired from this godly point of view.

Engraved at the back of the Duomètre Unique Travel Time watch, some of the world’s most exciting and beautiful destinations in each one of the 24 time zones are a reminder of the wonderful journeys that lie ahead.

And that, wherever you go, you can take the impressive Caliber 383 and admire its 498 components through the large sapphire caseback.

The Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre Unique Travel Time is a limited edition of 100 pieces in rose gold (also available in white gold), and is priced at £31,500 / €37, 800 / $ 46,300.
