Glashütte Original wants to take watch collectors traveling in 2015, and has unveiled the perfect watch to take them abroad. The German watch brand released the Senator Cosmopolite at Baselworld 2015, and the new watch boasts 37 world time zones indicated by the official IATA location code designating key international airports in each zone.

According to the brand, the Senator Cosmopolite follows the launch of the Grande Cosmopolite Tourbillon in 2012 (seen below), by adding a complex movement to its ever-growing fleet. If the watch’s dashboard displays a huge amount of information, the Senator Cosmopolite meets the needs of today’s world travellers, giving them the time of day at home and away in only one glance, in any two of the 37 world time zones.

Since those who travel are most concerned with the local time at their destination, the Senator Cosmopolite highlights the away or destination time, represented by the central hour and minute hands, small seconds. Travellers who wish to change the time at their destination can do so easily, by turning the crown at 4 o’clock clockwise if heading east (forwards in time), and counter-clockwise if traveling west (back in time).

The watch also features a day/night indicator at 9 o’clock, and the watchmaker’s signature Panorama Date display at 4 o’clock, meaning those who travel with this watch will do so in style! The Senator Cosmopolite features a stunning lacquered silver-grained dial with a black railroad chapter ring framing black Roman numerals, with symmetrical placement along the central vertical axis of the home time dial at 12 o’clock.

The Senator Cosmopolite is powered by the Calibre 89-02 automatic movement, an engine propelled by an off-center rotor that keeps the watch in flight for 72 hours.
