Girard-Perregaux has taken home the prestigious Aiguille d’Or. The luxury watchmaker was awarded the top prize at the 13th Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) on Friday, November 15, in honor of its Constant Escapement L.M.
The award was handed out by French writer and literary critic Frédéric Beigbeder during the ceremony at the Grand Théâtre de Genève. Guests included Mr Ueli Maurer, President of Switzerland, as well as nearly 1500 leaders from watchmaking, politics and the economy.
Michele Sofisti, CEO of the Sowind Group which owns Girard-Perregaux, commented upon the distinction, “Winning the Aiguille d’Or tonight is a genuine emotion that will stay with me deeply. I owe this amazing consecration to the work, passion and love of my team for the art of watchmaking.”
The GPHG winners were chosen by an international jury of watch experts, collectors, and industry leaders. Designers like Philippe Starck, indian jeweler Viren Baghat, and architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, all keen watchmaking enthusiasts, took to the stage to present trophies to the CEOs of the prize-winning brands.
