Five White Gold Favorites

When you think about it, white gold is actually quite an unusual material to make watches out. Where yellow and rose gold show off their precious metal base in technicolor, white gold is rather modest about it. In fact, at a glance, many people easily mistake it for steel. It is that understatement that gives white gold watches their appeal. Here are five of Haute Time’s favorite white gold watches:

Breguet Tradition Chronographe Indépendant 7077
Breguet Tradition Chronographe Indépendant 7077
With this Breguet, it is the movement that does the talking. This manual wind movement gives the chronograph its own balance wheel and gear train and places them prominently on the dial side of the watch. It is the white gold case that gives this watch a rather technical look, while the classic guilloche dial elements amplify, strangely enough, this feeling.

Vacheron Constantin Harmony Dual Time

Fitted in a white gold case, the Harmony Dual Time by Vacheron Constantin all of a sudden becomes a very contemporary watch. While its pink gold sibling flirts with the past, the white gold one seems to be more future focused. What helps in this is also the unusual dial layout with the second time zone located between four and five o’clock, and a day-night indicator opposite of it.

Duomètre Quantième Lunaire
Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre Quantième Lunaire
Jaeger-LeCoultre uses the white gold case of the Duomètre Quantième Lunaire to its advantage. By fitting the watch with gold hands and hour markers, you get a very vintage looking combination. Together with the moon phase complication on this particular model of the Duomètre collection, it gives a very balanced timepiece, yet one that doesn’t go overboard on its classical design cues.

Chopard LUC XPS 1860 Officer
Chopard LUC XPS 1860 Officer
Refined elegance is housed in the white gold case of the Chopard LUC XPS 1860 Officer. Beneath its honeycomb dial lies one of the brands manufacture micro-rotor movements, which can be examined when you open the hunter case, featuring the same decorations. White gold makes this watch understated, but also a nice daily companion. On such occasions, the date function, which is so subtle integrated into the design, will be appreciated.

Glashutte original Senator moon phase Skeleton

Where most white gold watches are understated, the Senator Moon Phase Skeletonized Edition is quite the opposite. Originally introduced as a limited edition in 2012 in a rose gold case, it has now become part of the regular collection in a non-limited white gold case. Combined with the beautiful skeletonized and engraved bridges, as well as the moon phase complication, it is the question what stands out the most?
