While at the Richard Mille Beverly Hills Boutique, I got to play with the Richard Mille RM 059-01, which is in reference to top Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake. In the store, they had a beautiful case for the watch, with the red Adidas shoes Blake wears in races along with his Richard Mille RM 059. Now Blake wears the Richard Mille 59-01, which is the evolution of his first piece.

If you forget, it was last year at the London Olympics when Blake wore the watch during his races, giving the brand huge PR, in that this incredible sprinter from Jamaica was racing with a $600,000 watch.

Well, this year at SIHH, Richard Mille launched the Richard Mille RM 059-01 (which is one of the lightest watches I have ever worn) as a Tourbillon, with a price tag of US$620,000.

The watch is called “The Beast”. It has dynamic bridges that span the movement and have claws that refer to Yohan Blake’s nickname The Beast. The watch is green and yellow, a tribute to the colors of the Jamaican flag. The watch has a tourbillon movement, with an oscillating rate of 21,600 vibrations per hour, and a 48 hour power reserve. The watch is limited to only 50 pieces worldwide, which made this such a treat to play with at the Richard Mille Boutique in Beverly Hills.
