Hublot brand ambassador and 2012 NBA champion Dwayne Wade made his first visit to Switzerland on Monday, culminating in an informal talk with the technicians who painstakingly assemble the watch that bears his name, the King Power Dwayne Wade.

Fresh from the games in London, Hublot Chairman Jean-Claude Biver was quick to give Wade a tour of the countryside surround the Hublot workshop in Nyon. A helicopter ride to the Matterhorn and back included sights like Eiger mountain, famous for the engineering marvel that allowed a tunnel to bore through its immense slabs of granite.

Once on the ground, Wade insisted on meeting the men and women who construct his namesake watch at the facility in Nyon, where he discussed his charitable initiative called the Wade World foundation. Designed to promote education, health and social skills for at-risk youth, Hublot could not have been more delighted.

“We are impressed by Dwyane’s energy and dynamism,” CEO Jean-Claude Biver beamed, “It is something he shows not only with his incredible presence on the court, but also in his attitude with the creation of the Wade’s World Foundation.”

For his part, Wade was equally complimentary, adding: “I had a great time with the Hublot team and I was really impressed by the precision, the care and incredibly meticulous work of the watchmakers. It is an honor for me to be part of the very select list of the brand’s ambassadors and have the opportunity to attend the Hublot workshop in Switzerland.”
