Jaeger-LeCoultre Pays Tribute To Its British Heritage With A Limited-Edition Grande Reverso
In London, Jaeger-LeCoultre unveiled a limited-edition Grande Reverso Ultra Thin 1931 sporting a British Racing Green dial made of lacquer to mark the opening of its flagship boutique on Bond Street. The Reverso, perhaps the most British model in the Jaeger-LeCoultre collection, was developed in 1931, at the request of British army officers who wanted to protect their watches while playing polo. The new Reverso is presented in the classic Grande Reverso Ultra Thin steel case, measuring 46.8 mm x 27.4 mm. Remarkable for its beautiful deep green lacquered dial, it features hours and minutes with silver- toned hour-markers. With only 26 pieces to be made, the special London flagship edition is the most limited in the tribute series, which includes the fiery “Rouge,” the delicious “Chocolat,” and the “Blue” models.
Vacheron Constantin Shows Its Support For Fine Craftsmanship
Vacheron Constantin shined a bright light on artists, designers and craftsmen as a founding partner of the first-ever London Craft Week. “London Craft Week is a journey to the roots of creativity,” said Juan-Carlos Torres, CEO of Vacheron Constantin. “We hope that it will inspire a number of vocations.” During the event, the brand unveiled three new Savoirs Enluminés—part of its Métiers d’Art collection—and gave visitors an inside look at the mechanical and artistic know- how that goes into creating the exquisite timepieces. Based on illustrations found in the Aberdeen Bestiary, the collection features three “beasts” that have been recreated using Grand Feu enamel painting on a gold background.
Hublot Hosts The Fluorescent Fusion At Harrods
For the second year in a row, Harrods welcomed Hublot inside the store’s main Brompton Road windows, this time to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the iconic Hublot Big Bang. “The exhibition at Harrods this year is particularly exciting as it represents the core DNA of Hublot giving light to the ‘Art of Fusion’ brand philosophy,” said Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe. Hublot came out en force as United Kingdom, Ireland, France and Benelux director Benoît Lecigne and brand ambassador and manager of the England National football team Roy Hodgson joined Mr. Guadalupe for the launch of the exhibition. The collection on display matched the occasion as Harrods presented several exclusive models, including model N°1 of the new limited- edition Hublot Big Bang Tourbillon 5-day Power Reserve Indicator Full Magic Gold.
The Staatchi Gallery Hosts The Watch Art Patek Philippe Grand Exhibition
The Saatchi Gallery hosted the world’s largest single showcase of high-precision watch manufacturing in London. Announced with great pomp almost a year ago, the Watch Art Patek Philippe Grand Exhibition offered a unique opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts to see some of the world’s most important historical pieces. Many international collectors booked their holidays around the special exhibit. Mark Hearn, the managing director of Patek Philippe UK, said he was “very proud” of hosting the event in London, describing the business and tourism hub as the ideal venue for the event. Patek Philippe brought more than a hundred historical watches, all part of the Patek Philippe Museum collection located in its historical building along Rue Du Rhone in Geneva, as well as the much-anticipated commemorative watch collection created in celebration of the brand’s 175th anniversary.
TAG Heuer Officiates The GoodWood Festival Of Speed
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is a must for all petrol heads in the United Kingdom. The biggest outdoor motor racing festival in the world with over 150,000 visitors, it unites the rarest and fastest automobiles for a one- of-a-kind hill climb on the private estate of Goodwood House. And for some years now, it’s become a prime location for some watch-spotting. TAG Heuer was once again the strongest presence at the event, the Swiss brand celebrating its fifth consecutive Goodwood with five new watches released especially for the festival.In TAG Heuer’s paddock this year, the new Ayrton Senna collection celebrating 30 years of partnership with McLaren, was presented alongside the driver’s MP4/4, the winningest Formula 1 car ever built. The Swiss brand also unveiled a new Tag Heuer McLaren Limited Edition watch with a special McLaren bezel and black and red striped ‘NATO’ style strap.
