de Grisogono Unveils New Retro Lady At Galeries Lafayette

Haute jewellery and watchmaking house de Grisogono doubled the pleasure for us last week in Paris when it opened a corner at Galeries Lafayette department store and brought with it the New Retro Lady, just three months after the launch of the New Retro for men.

The new point-of-sale provides a convenient stop for local and international shoppers in the historic landmark known as the “Parisian temple of fashion”, making it a welcome addition to the de Grisogono boutique on the rue Saint-Honoré just next to the Place Vendôme and separate showroom on the rue La Boétie in the 8th district. Situated on the First Floor Luxury Department of Galeries Lafayette, the new corner showcases the New Retro and New Retro Lady alongside jewellery, high jewellery and timepieces from such iconic collections as Allegra, Boule, Grappoli, and Instrumentino.

The New Retro is destined to reach icon status itself, and the New Retro Lady is following right behind. The same size as her older brother with a case measuring 12mm thick x 50mm wide and 44mm long, the New Retro Lady is as elegant and balanced with gently sensuous rounded angles.

But while the classic yet bold design of the New Retro affirms its masculinity with distinct gold cases, different coloured dials and glossy black alligator bracelets, the New Lady Retro is dressed in four ultra-feminine but-not-at-all-girly versions with “the big four” precious stones.

The effect is superb chic and timeless style, and despite the imposing size and stunning diamond, blue sapphire, emerald or ruby settings symbolizing Air, Water, Earth and Fire, the New Retro Lady impresses without being intimidating.

All versions are set with 303 stones on the case, and 112 more on the triple-folding clasps of their colour-matched galuchat straps. All have large easy-to-read off-white dials with Super-LumiNova® Arabic numerals, and while three of the four versions match their numeral and marker colours to their stones, the diamond version has golden numerals and markers surrounding 94 white diamonds on the dial.

Beautiful and intelligent, the New Retro Lady is equipped with the mechanical self-winding Calibre DG 10-91 with functions of hours and minutes and a power reserve of 42 hours. The oscillating weight in gold with a new blackened appearance is adorned with an elegant openwork scrolling pattern. Frequency 28,800 vibrations. Water-resistance 3 ATM.
