Although the world of haute horlogerie is undoubtedly dominated by men, we’ve been seeing more and more pieces dedicated to women as of late. Indeed, this year at Baselworld some the show’s most outstanding unveilings were ladies’ pieces. Here, we’ve rounded up our favorite diamond-clad pieces:
Christophe Claret Margot
This timepiece, the first ladies’ watch complication from Christophe Claret, is housed in a 42.50mm 5N red gold case set with 423 snow-set diamonds. The pink mother-of-pearl dial features a unique visualization of l’effeuiller la marguerite, the original French name for the classic children’s game “She loves me, she loves me not”. A pushpiece at 2 o’clock activates the game, and with each press a petal or pair of petals is ‘picked’, disappearing under the dial, while an answer appears at random in calligraphic letters at 4 o’clock: un peu (a little), beaucoup (a lot), passionnément (passionately), à la folie (madly) or pas du tout (not at all). Each press of the pusher also activates a chime.
Patek Philippe Ladies Complications Ref. 4968G-010
This moon phase timepiece features a 33.3mm white gold case with a spiral of 273 diamonds that get progressively larger around the bezel. The white mother-of-pearl also features an engraved spiral decoration, as well as gold applied ruthenium-black numerals. Functions include hours and minutes, small seconds and a moon phase indicator. The mechanical manually-wound Caliber 215 PS LU movement is visible through the sapphire crystal caseback. It is completed by a hand-stitched alligator leather strap with square scales and a prong buckle set with 32 diamonds.
Rolex Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona
Housed in a 40mm case, this jeweled version of the Cosmograph Daytona combines 950 platinum and diamonds. The bezel is set with 36 baguette-cut diamonds, while the dial paved with 437 diamonds and features ice-blue chronograph counters with white gold borders. Functions include hours and minutes, a central chronograph hand, a 30-minute counter at 3 o’clock, a 60-second counter at 6 o’clock and a 12-hour counter at 9 o’clock. At its heart is the self-winding mechanical Calibre 4130 chronograph movement. It is completed by a solid-link Oyster bracelet in 950 platinum.
