It’s quite difficult to pull off the wetsuit, but IWC made it a little easier in 2014, thanks to the latest Aquatimer Chronograph collection. The new chronographs are also the brand’s most versatile, and look great once the business suit is back on. Here’s your close up look:

The Aquatimer Chronograph is available in four models, with a black or silver-plated dial and with a rubber strap or stainless steel bracelet.

While the yellow seconds hand is a perfect hint to model’s more colorful past, the more reserved pattern and shape means IWC’s new Aquatimer Chronograph cuts a fine figure for everyday wear.

The case diameter is unchanged, still measuring 44 millimeters, but the watch looks elegant nonetheless with its slimmer external rotating bezel, and the newly acquired cover on the sliding clutch system at “9 o’clock”. What the large case achieves to do instead, is keep the dial uncluttered, even with three subdials and a day and date display. The distinctly purist design of the dial also pays homage to the first Aquatimers in 1967, while remaining resolutely modern, both outside and underneath the dial.

Indeed, the chronograph’s technical features represent a massive leap forward in the evolution of the IWC Aquatimer. Ticking away inside the stainless-steel case is the robust 79320-calibre chronograph movement with a 44-hour power reserve. It facilitates stop times and aggregate timing up to 12 hours, and is a reliable companion during longer dives.

The newly developed external/internal rotating bezel with SafeDive system provides greater safety to divers than ever before. The design boosts the practical use of the diver’s watch by preventing increasing in water-resistance from 12 to 30 bar.
