Omega hosted a very private event last Thursday night in Paris to celebrate the Globemaster Omega Co-axial Master Chronometer from the Constellation collection. Over 100 guests including French cinema and TV personalities, VIP clients and members of the press gathered at the historically ranked landmark ‘Maxim’s Restaurant”, founded in 1893 and reputed for its French gastronomy, Art Nouveau style, and fares to match.

With one entire floor privatized for our delight, guests enjoyed the live music of a Jazz quintet, the ‘just-for-fun’ gambling at the Black Jack and roulette tables, and the ‘refreshments’ and other delicacies befitting of this Parisian institution that “has to be experienced at least once in a lifetime”.

The star of the evening was of course the Globemaster Master Chronometer that houses Omega’s most advanced mechanical movement to date. It is the first timepiece to have emerged from the rigorous new standard of testing established by the independent Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS). Showcases presenting historical and recent timepieces traced the evolution of the new technology, while an Omega watchmaker demonstrated the Globemaster’s anti-magnetic resistance of 15000 gauss, compared to 1000 gauss elsewhere in the market, explaining that approximately 80% of after-sales service is due to damage caused by magnetic forces.

The first watchbrand that went to the moon aims to equip the majority of its mechanical watches with these superior anti-magnetic properties by the year 2020. We know from our sneak preview last Thursday night that we will not have to wait longer than the official launch at Baselworld in just 2 days’ time to see more of them.
