This year Cartier will be flexing its artisanal skills at the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie. Among its pre-SIHH 2014 unveilings is the stunning new Ballon Bleu de Cartier Floral-Marquetry Parrot watch.

True to its name, the dial of this 42mm Ballon Bleu boasts a dial featuring floral marquetry. Encased in a 42mm 18K white gold case, the beauty of the flowers’ petals is transformed into the blue and orange-yellow of the parrot’s plumage, and the deep black of its beak.

The manufacture’s artisanal talents are further demonstrated by the jewels which adorn the dial, from the bird’s emerald green eye to the sparkling white diamonds in the background of the dial and on the crown.

The parrot motif is completed by a bracelet in white semi-matte alligator skin with an adjustable folding buckle in 18K white gold, set with 43 diamonds.

The Ballon Bleu de Cartier Floral-Marquetry Parrot watch will be limited to an edition of just 20 pieces.
