Today’s Haute Time Watch of the Day created a lot of buzz at Baselword 2014, it is The Astonomia Tourbillon by Jacob & Co.

The Astronomia Tourbillon is amazing to see in motion, complete with a carousel with four arms, displaying hours and minutes, on another arm, there is a full carat briolette cut diamond representing the moon and a white gold globe of the earth. A beautiful blue colored enamel on the dial represents the oceans and of course, the triple axis tourbillon as well. This complicated collage of moving models rotates on its axis once every five minutes, while the tourbillon rotates every sixty seconds and the tourbillon also rotates around a central axis every 20 minutes – astonishing to see.

The case of the Astronomia Tourbillon measures 47mm and is created in 18k rose gold. The thickness of the timepiece is 18mm, which includes the protective dome that surrounds the movement and moving pieces. The dome is created using a diamond microparticle polycarbonate fiber, making this timepiece completely wearable and durable enough to protect the rotating parts on the dial. The ‘out of this world’ dial is hand engraved and features lacquered indexes, diamond finish and finished gunned blue hands.

At the heart of the Astonomia Tourbillon is an exclusive manually wound Jacob & Co. JCEM01 movement with a 72 hour power reserve.

Fitted with a black alligator strap and an 18k rose gold folding buckle, The Astronomia Tourbillon is an amazing addition to the collection of noveleties by Jacob & Co.
