In July 2012, luxury watchmakers Breitling launched an ultra-limited edition of their classic Navitimer to celebrate the company’s 60th anniversary as the preferred wristwatch in aviation. As the Luxury Insider reported, the company even had spokesman John Travolta fly to Singapore to show off the watch’s myriad luxury features. The limited-edition Navitimer Blue Sky watch is steel with a blue dial, deep blue crocodile leather strap, with a red second hand and central chronograph. A clear backing provides a view into the inner workings of the Manufacture Breitling Caliber 01, the oldest self winding mechanical chronograph still in production.

Breitling, a staple amongst pilots since 1952, created this limited-edition timepiece to celebrate the  engineering which has helped generations of aeronautical professionals make the precise calculations needed for navigation while in flight. Since the Navitimer first debuted, Breitling gained popularity among pilots as a conveniently wrist-worn instrument panel that helps calculate fuel usage, average speed, and distance covered while in motion. The company was named the official watchmaker of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and features their logo on timepiece editions from the 1950’s and 60’s.

This anniversary-edition Navitimer Blue Sky stays true to the original design engineering, with the addition of a restyled face to this iconic Breitling model, with the limited-edition series number engraved on the face at 9 o clock. This 60th anniversary edition is available on the Navitimer bracelet, crocodile band, or the original perforated Air Racer bracelet.
