Blancpain Celebrates World Oceans Day With New Exhibition

This week luxury watchmaker Blancpain celebrated World Oceans Day with a unique new exhibition. Blancpain teamed up with the United Nations Division for Ocean Affairs, the Law of the Sea of the Office of Legal Affairs and DivePhotoGuide.com to present Oceans, an underwater photography exhibition on display at the UN in New York.

The Oceans exhibition features the works of sixteen world-renowned photographers, each related to the Edition Fifty Fathoms, Blancpain’s yearly publication dedicated to the underwater world. The photographers include Kurt Amsler (Switzerland), Laurent Ballesta (France), Daniel Botelho (Brazil), Frederic Buyle (Belgium), Ethan Daniels (United States), Stephen Frink (United States), Marc A. Hayek (Switzerland), Doug Perrine (United States), Norbert Probst (Germany), Dr. Enric Sala (Spain), Maurine Shimlock & Burt Jones (United States), Mark Strickland (United States), Masa Ushioda (Japan), William Winram (Canada), Keri Wilk (Canada).In addition to the photographs, Oceans features videos about recent scientific expeditions and National Geographic’s Pristine Seas Expeditions. Visitors will also get the chance to see exclusive footage of the Coelacanth, one of the most important zoological discoveries of the 20th century, from Laurent Ballesta’s Gombessa Project.
