Back In Black: The Tourbillograph Full Black From Graham London

Graham London recently debuted its smart and sleek  Tourbillograph Full Black. This is no ordinary tourbillon though- the racing style Full Black is an automatic one minute tourbillon developed with a powerful design and a rich technological content.

The cage is a unique  with a 42 mm opening and a see-through view. The skeleton cage includes 48 components but a weight of only 0.485 grams. Known as cintré, the construction integrates the Tourbillon into the complex chronograph movement using a large diameter balance wheel.

Developed for Graham London with Manufacture La Joux-Perret, it took four years to perfect this special timepiece and even lead to two patents. AT’s considered “shockproof” tourbillon thanks to its reduced number of components, lightness and double-bridge stable construction guarantee stability and perfect rigidity. The watches sensitively to magnetism  is also reduced through the use of iron free components in the Tourbillon cage. The calibre  G1780 is equipped with a high quality chronometric escapement beating at 28’800 A.

Setting this Tourbillon apart even more is its hybrid of a chronograph design- a column-wheel chronograph in fact its movement offers at the same time the beauty of one of the best see-through Tourbillon cage and the resistance of a military watch. How do we know? We have put it to the test. Not any test. Its movement has successfully passed the high standards of the Chronofiable test making it the only automatic Tourbillon that has passed.

Visually, this racing timepiece is sophisticated and slick. Aesthetically, the Silverstone Tourbillograph Full Black is a sophisticated and classy racing instrument. The 48mm thin steel case and bezel are PVD-coated with black titanium carbide with a black dial. The oscillating mass with a ceramic ball bearing wheel, the balance, the double bridge, the coq, are also all black. Even the column wheel alternates black and polished. The watch also features 34 jewels, domed sapphire crystal, see-through sapphire case back and black croco strap.
