During a recent visit to the F.P. Journes’ Boutique in New York City, I had the opportunity to see a unique piece that is only available through F.P. Journes’ Madison Avenue Boutique.

In 1999, Mr. Francois-Paul Journe launched F.P. Journe – Invenit et Fecit brand which translates to “Invented and Made” by Francois-Paul Journe. With the launch of the Souveraine Collection, the Tourbillon Souverain was born.

This amazing Tourbillon uses a remontoir d’egalite, a constant force device which assures the timepieces’ accuracy and keeps the most precise time. This very complicated feature also incorporates a dead seconds hand or “seconde morte” which simply means the second hand stops and goes at the turn of each second as opposed to continuously sweeping around the dial.

The Tourbillon Souverain Boutique Edition piece features an 18k red gold case which measures 40 mm and a sapphire case back revealing the beautiful gold movement. The dial on the piece at the boutique was black and featured hour, minute and dead seconds along with the power reserve indicator and tourbillon cage on the dial.

This rare boutique piece is shown on a brown leather strap with matching red gold pin buckle.
In addition to the boutique Tourbillon Souverain with the black dial, there are also a few other variations available as part of the Souveraine Collection, with your choice of white gold, red gold or platinum dials and cases as well as a variation of strap colors or bracelets.

To learn more about the F.P. Journe Souveraine Collection or to see the Tourbillon Souverain Red Gold/Black Dial Boutique Edition, visit F.P. Journes’ New York City Boutique and experience the brand in person.
